Video Marketing
Using videos on the Internet has become a great way of increasing traffic to a website. We all use YouTube to see the latest videos that have gone viral. As an example, the John Lewis Christmas adverts clocked nearly 4,000,000 views alone, amply demonstrating the power of videos which link to your website.
YouTube is now the 3rd most visited website on the Internet and has been known to seriously increase traffic flow to external websites. Another example of a successful video strategy was the Viking Direct campaign. They uploaded videos that talked about the company as well as displaying adverts for their products. As a result of this tactic, they increased the amount of traffic to their website by 600 per cent, spreading awareness of their brand at next to no cost (apart from the money spent on making the video).
Television advertising is renowned for being expensive, but using websites such as YouTube allows advertisers to display their videos at virtually nil cost (once the film and production costs have been met). Okay, so you may not get the same exposure as TV (although you'll have to pay heavily for particular time slots), but the video can be shared over Facebook and Twitter, and, if the ad or story is sufficiently compelling, it can quickly spread far and wide.
Sharing videos on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter can really help to build awareness of a company online. Companies such a Viking Direct have shown that even modest use of video marketing can seriously increase traffic to your website.
