Funky Home Stationery

Funky Home Stationery @ Groovy Prices

We were recently engaged to design the website and develop the marketing strategy for DeskGoTech, a new online office and stationery retailer selling everyday items direct to the UK consumer.

The site, which features name brands from market leaders such as Office Depot, Viking and Niceday, will initially focus on the B2C market and currently lists over 1,500 popular products; ranging from pens, pencils, cartridges and ink to staplers, notepads and binders for either the home office, school work or leisure activities, such as arts and crafts.

It also boasts a host of special offers, most of which are less than half price, with discounts of up to 90 per cent available on some items. These offers will change on a month-by-month basis as they continue to expand the product range, enabling you to stock up on your stationery supplies at a hugely reduced cost.

To distinguish it from the more traditional B2B sites, we’ve gone for a fun, retro look based on a 1970s disco theme – which as well as being bright and colourful should ensure it won’t ever go out of fashion (although some would argue it was never in fashion!) To continue the theme we even recorded a Barry White voiceover and holding message for their telephone system.

Hopefully, you’ll agree that the site has personality as we’d noticed that a number of the more memorable online retailers, such as Moonpig and Churchill Insurance, were closely identified with the characters they’d developed for marketing and advertising purposes.

So, we came up with a number of different identities based on a range of characters originally conceived by Simon Oxley, the artist and illustrator responsible for designing the iconic Twitter logo. He liked them so much, he granted us the rights to further develop and modify these characters specifically for use by DeskGoTech.

These will be used to promote the site, and grow the customer database, through a range of different marketing strategies, including viral campaigns, traditional press and web banner advertising, social media, SEO and affiliate marketing as well as maintaining a presence on shopping sites such as eBay and Amazon.

We’re also continuing to work with our technology partners – Evolution, Vision and Professional Fulfilment Services – to further develop the online catalogue and website architecture and are constantly reviewing and streamlining the payment and delivery processes.
