The passion is growing
Garden Scene Nursery came to us because they wanted a website to help raise awareness of their garden centre and the diverse range of products and services they offer.
They also wanted to share their passion for shrubs, trees, flowers and plants with a wider audience and to grow (no pun intended!) their customer database.
Located in the suitably scenic Le Douet de Rue in rural St Lawrence, in close proximity to Jersey Goldsmiths at the Lion Park, they’ve built up a loyal band of regular customers who value their advice and assistance with all aspects of gardening and garden care.
And having spoken to Martin, Mark, Alasdair and their team, and to some of their satisfied customers, we soon realized why Garden Scene is known locally as “a real gardener’s garden shop”.
They’ve recognized that one of their key selling points is they grow their own shrubs and plants – rather than buy them in – and so can appreciate the problems faced by their customers when experiencing difficult growing conditions. Similarly, they’re well placed to help identify the best plants for each garden, according to season, soil, location and the vagaries of Jersey’s unusual micro-climate.
When designing their website, we not only wanted to capture the look and feel of the gardener’s natural environment but also to reflect the knowledge and enthusiasm that is so evident to anyone who calls in to the nursery.
Just like the staff at the garden centre itself, the website is great resource for anyone seeking advice and information on all aspects of the local ‘garden scene’ – from news of the latest arrivals and specialist products to tips on garden care and using seasonal colour. There’s also a live RSS weather feed and humidity reading and a helpful weekly column from Garden Scene’s founder and director Martin Bourke.
So, even if you don’t have time to head to St Lawrence, it’s well worth a regular visit.
You can also sign up to receive the monthly electronic newsletters we’ve designed for them, which will give you early notice of the gardener’s seminars and education sessions they’ve got coming up.
And if you’re one of the few who hasn’t been to their nursery yet, there’s also a handy map on the contact section of the website.
Remember, “The passion (for Garden Scene) is growing”.
