Jersey Finance - Schools Road Shows Programme (Work in Progress)
It's fantastic to have the opportunity to work with Jersey Finance again, especially given the energy and commitment of the team there. They are launching a number of new and innovative educational initiatives in order to give students aged between 14 and 18 years a better insight into a career in finance. These school road shows are one of the primary ways for Jersey Finance to interact with the local community, by providing a series of presentations, games and activity weeks focussed on educating students about the Island's finance industry.
We are delighted that the multi-level board game aptly entitled "Show Me the Money" is now complete. This fun and engaging game is an interactive demonstration of Jersey's multi-faceted financial services industry and explains how the industry functions and how it is structured locally. It also provides information on how to get into finance, the different careers paths and entry points and the variety of positions available, together with an explanation of the benefits of working in finance – earning potential, career progression and development, etc.
Jersey Finance were brave enough to take a heuristic approach to the development of this game and tested it on a number of student groups and tutors. The response has been fantastic with an unexpected level of input and feedback, which has helped to reshape and 'fine tune' the game. What was most heartening was the level of information that the students wanted from the game, such as qualifications, training and salaries. This game will, quite literally, be rolled out in 2010 and beyond, so expect to encounter some very knowledgeable teenagers in the near future."
