A Journey Through Time: How The Idea Works Helped JFSC Celebrate Jersey’s Liberation

For the 80th anniversary of Jersey’s Liberation, the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) wanted to create something meaningful. Not just a display—but a narrative installation that would honour the island’s wartime resilience and showcase its evolution into a world-leading financial centre.

The Idea Works was commissioned to bring this vision to life with a sleek, contemporary timeline stand that now takes pride of place in JFSC’s reception area. The result is a striking blend of history and design, storytelling and innovation.

Telling a Story That Spans Generations

“The brief was to create a piece that reflected Jersey’s journey—from the hardships of the Occupation to its emergence as a global financial hub,” explains Martyn Aubert, Creative Director at The Idea Works. “We knew it had to balance sensitivity with forward-thinking design—something that visitors could engage with, and staff could take pride in.”

The creative team developed a freestanding, curved backwall display system that seamlessly marries form and function. Minimalist yet impactful, the design used clean typography, vibrant imagery and subtle graphic motifs to guide viewers through the timeline.

High-fidelity mock-ups were shared with the JFSC team at every stage, ensuring the final piece was in harmony with the organisation’s brand and its contemporary office environment.

Elegant Design Meets Effortless Deployment

At the heart of the project was a versatile magnetic display system. Its curved design offered flexibility for single or double-sided use and can be repositioned for future events—making it as practical as it is beautiful.

Vibrant UV-printed PVC graphics ensured historical photographs and key milestones were brought vividly to life. Interchangeable panels enable easy updates, allowing the timeline to expand as Jersey’s story unfolds.

And when it came to installation, the Idea Works team ensured it was seamless. The tool-free system deployed straight from its protective padded bag within minutes—keeping disruption to JFSC’s operations to an absolute minimum.

A Lasting Impression

Timed perfectly for Liberation Day, the timeline now greets staff, clients, and international visitors as they enter JFSC’s offices. It’s already generating praise for its engaging content and professional presence.

“The timeline stand is a perfect balance of history and modernity,” says Lucy Lemos, Marketing Co-ordinator at JFSC. “It reflects our island’s journey beautifully and has become a valued feature within our offices. The Idea Works team delivered with professionalism and creativity.”

For The Idea Works, it’s another example of how design can bring history to life in meaningful, contemporary ways.

“Heritage projects like this are so rewarding,” adds Martyn Aubert. “They remind us that design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about helping communities reflect on where they’ve been and imagine where they’re going.”

Turn Your History Into a Statement

At The Idea Works, we create installations that educate, inspire and engage—whether it’s a heritage milestone, a brand story or a community activation.
