Over the past 16 years, The Idea Works has forged a reputation for creative and strategic excellence working alongside many big name brands.
Have a look at what we're working on right now
From Michael Jackson, to Freddie Mercury - The Merton Hotel hosts them all (well, the next best thing).
This season a whole host of tribute acts have been booked to perform at The Star Room at the hotel and the “Tribute Live” entertainment will provide a great night out for locals and visitors. With dinner and overnight packages available, you can enjoy a great show as well as full use of the Merton Hotel and Aquadome facilities.
To advertise the tribute events, we were asked to produce a whole raft of promotional materials, including posters, flyers, giant window showcases and electronic promotions such as an EDM header, general web graphics and an email signature for the Seymour Hotel group.
The printed showcases and posters have been displayed across the Island and 15,000 flyers have been printed to be distributed through Seymour Hotels and Jersey Tourism with 10,000 flyers circulated with Tourism’s “What’s On?” publication. EDMs have also been sent to a database of approximately 30,000 potential customers based in the UK and Europe.
We’re sure the shows, which run from March to September this year, will be a huge success and look forward to catching a few ourselves.
This year we are continuing our work on the Jersey Pass for Jersey Tourism. We hope that our marketing efforts will have just as much of an impact as the outstanding results we had in 2012 (an 800% increase in online sales). With a combination of printed and online material, we believe it is one of the best ways to help visitors to Jersey get the most out of their trip.
We are still encouraging customers to purchase the Jersey Pass before they come to the island, but there is also a lot of Point-of-Sale material that we hope will encourage visitors to buy the pass when they arrive as well. We have created a combined leaflet in English, French and German in order to spread the word even further afield, such as at trade shows and key departure points on the continent.
The re-marketing ads will play an important part in encouraging purchase. Adverts displaying the percentage that customers will save at tourist venues with the Jersey Pass will be displayed on specific pages on Jersey.com. This advert clicks through to the Jersey Pass section of the website. However, for anyone who doesn’t complete a transaction the type of advert they receive will change. This second advert will display a promotional code that will only be available for a short period of time. This will encourage customers to make a purchase as soon as possible.
The re-marketing adverts and new web graphics will soon be available on Jersey.com, so go and check what the Jersey Pass is going to offer this season!
Once again we have been lucky enough to have been commissioned to design the brochure for the Jersey Food Festival, a job guaranteed to get our creative juices flowing.
Working alongside the team at Jersey Tourism and editor Paula Thelwell, this will be the third of these annual publications and another absolute treat. Once again we have been given the opportunity to move the look and feel of the programme forward and evolve the style in our own direction; whilst keeping the essence of the festival.
There will be one major difference this year, as the brochure is due to be published early, then circulated by Jersey Tourism in hotels and restaurants, and in the hands of the public around mid February 2013. With an online copy already available, we hope this will give the event the advance publicity it deserves to tantalise the taste buds.
The festival’s programme of events, which has previously been included in the brochure, is due to be published as a separate item nearer the event itself, once all of the tours, markets and other activities have been finalised. The brochure has been designed with a handy pocket on the inside back cover so the events programme can be slipped inside and easily kept together.
Some stunning new photography has been provided by talented local photographer Gary Grimshaw, which helped us to showcase the huge range of local producers, chefs, restauranteurs and farmers that the Island has to offer.
We’re all looking forward to the festival itself which takes place between Saturday 18th and Sunday 26th May and hope to see you all at some of the many island-wide events.

The tourism industry continues to become more competitive, and as a result Jersey must be innovative in order to gain its share of the marketplace. In light of this fact Jersey Tourism and members of the industry have set up a small working group to offer marketing support and guidance to the accommodation sector in Jersey.
Our Managing Director, Richard Lumborg, was asked by Jersey Tourism to take the first in a series of lunchtime master classes which provided an insight and a guide on how to plan the perfect accommodation photo shoot that is effective and affordable. Drawing on his years of experience, Richard covered areas on how to get the best out of your accommodation photography including creating mood boards, taking seasonal images to create year-round appeal, taking exterior views and setting up interior and room images with and without people.
